A Tricolored Heron in the Rain

It was a raining day. But a tricolored heron lightened up my day. She came from nowhere and landed on the fence at my backyard -- wondering for several minutes and then flying away. These several minutes were all I needed...

Beautiful Lotus

We visited a place named Moonlight over the Lotus Pond while we were in Chengdu, China. This pond was full of several kinds of lotus -- some of them are very rare.  As a bonus, we also spotted a bird named lxobrychus sinensis (黄苇鳽).  We really enjoyed this trip.

Time to eat…Beautiful baby bird, Garrulax Elliotii, seen in Jiuzhai Valley, Sichuan Province (China) (6 photos)

After getting in Jiuzhai Valley National Park, we took park’s shuttle bus all the way to its final destination, the Virgin Forest or the Primeval Forest, along the Rize Valley, at an altitude of 10,000 ft. While walking in the woods, I heard a baby bird chirping restlessly nearby. I walked very slowly toward that chipping sound. Finally, I spotted that beautiful baby bird chirping and flapping its wings constantly so close to me. Then an adult bird, maybe this baby bird’s mom or dad, brought a piece of potato chip and fed the little bird. Right after the feeding, another adult bird brought a piece of potato chip. So I guessed they must be this baby bird’s mom and dad.  What a lovely moment!  By the way, the name of this kind of bird is Garrulax elliotii or Elliot's Laughingthrush.

Hi Baby, calm down, the food is all yours (baby bird was flapping his/her wings like crazy)

Osprey's landing and taking off (7 photos)

Last month, an very unexpected visitor suddenly landed on top of the papaya tree at my backyard, which I planted from a seed. I was very excited and felt so lucky to have this opportunity to taking pictures without searching for it from nowhere. The following 7 shots were taken when this osprey tried to land on it again but then realized that I was at the bottom of the tree, so he took off right away without resting for a second. A couple days later, I found out the side effort of all these excitement - all branches of the tree top were gone. I had to remove the tree - no papaya anymore.

Sunset (3 photos - before and after)

After a thunderstorm in the afternoon, the sky looked much clear closer to the sunset time. I hoped that there might be some amazing sunset.

In the first shot, I observed an airplane coming the sunset place. I waited for a moment when the airplane was getting closer and could be seen clearly in the photo.  Even the airplane is too small, it could be noticed when zooming in a little bit.

In the second shot, I saw an heron flying towards to the sunset place.  This is one I selected from the multiple shots. But I really like the pink color of the cloud and blue color of the sky.

In the last shot, there was an endless pathway to nowhere.
