Beautiful Flax Lily Flower

Flax lily is a grass like plant and can be used to cover ground. It can take full or partial sun and does require lots of water. So, it is very easy to maintain. The flower of the kind of flax lily I have is not that attractive since it is hardly noticeable. However, I found it appears to be interesting when it has a good light. As an experiment, I took a dozen of shots and finally got one I really like, as shown below. If you like it, you can do some research since there are different kinds of flax lily out there and some of them do have very pretty flowers.

Waxing Moon

I took this shot at 8:33 pm on 3/11/2016.  It was above the place where the sunset took place 2 hours ago. I tried different shutter speed to get the tone of the moon surface closer to what I saw with my naked eyes.

Cheering at the Sunset

While the sunset was in session towards the end, lots of birds suddenly were flying over, circling around, diving and lifting, and cheering. What a party!!! A couple minutes later when the sunset was almost over, they disappeared quietly - probably went back to their nests for rest.

Flowers in the morning

When shooting flowers earlier morning, one of my favorites would be looking for flowers with dew. Here are a few of the photos I took.  The first picture looks natural earrings to me - the ones you can enjoy but cannot really use.

Chasing the sunset

While shooting for sunset, surprisingly, I captured this beautiful image -- a heron was flying in the sky with colorful clouds in the background -- a big bonus for the day.

Colorful Bromeliad Flower

Walking around the backyard garden during the last weekend, I was surprised to see one of the bromeliad plant bloomed. Since the light was not good on that day, I did not take a shot. Two days later, I spotted a good opportunity before the sunset - the light was warm and created a good contrast on the flowers. This picture reminded me of lanterns,  red for happiness and yellow (gold) for wealth.
